Ep.118 - Interview: Akira (@akirathahun)

Akira (@akirathahun) is a 28 year old lesbian SWer of British-filipina heritage. She got her start in SW 11 years ago in the height of the era of personal Craigslist ads with her ex girlfriend. Akira is also 7 years clean from her0in and recently thoughtfully re-entered SW as a dr*g abstaining individual. (TRIGGER WARNING for this episode: we will be discussing dr*g use and survival SW. ) This episode we sit down with Akira and cover a ton of topics: her entrance into SW; her dr*g addiction and her recovery journey; her experience doing FSSW; her decision to re-enter into SW; and how it is for her being a lesbian doing “straight” SW. Akira is extremely vulnerable and honest in this episode and we found her story and journey so inspiring! Thank you for listening! Have a wonderful week and happy wh0re-ing! 💋 NOTE: If you or someone you know is struggling with dr*gs, Wellness Together Canada is a 24 hr phone/ chat line that is accessible across all of Canada toll free 1-866-585-0445

About the Podcast

50 Plus a Tip
A podcast for strippers and open minded hoes
“How much is a dance?” Well... it’s “$50 PLUS A TIP!”

Two stripper best friends sharing the highs and (b)lows of their experience in the adult entertainment industry, with some help from special guests along the way.

While harmful, incorrect stigmas sadly surround the sex industry, Danica and Riley trust that using their podcast platform to share their own experiences and give a voice to others along the way, they can give “outsiders” a glimpse of the real world of adult entertainment and show everyone that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!

Profile picture for Danica

Danica

Danica is a sarcastic, straightforward, sex-postive feminist with a passion for topics that some may consider “taboo.” With a psychology degree under her belt, a public speaker/ university guest lecturer, a devoted sex workers advocate and a successful career as an exotic dancer - she knows some stuff!

Danica lives her life by two philosophies: 1) it’s better to have a life of “oh well”s than “what if”s and 2) be unapologetically you! Her years of experience as a sex worker have given her a passion and drive to do what she can to eliminate the dangerous stigma that currently surrounds the sex industry. She is confident that sharing her stories as an active sex worker can do just that - show women (and men) that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!
