Ep. 83 - Interview: Robi Rye, Vegas Dancer & TikToker

Today we are joined by Vegas dancer Robi Rye (@robi_rye). Robi began dancing at the age of 17 at a coyote ugly-style bar. She then went on to get a full ride scholarship to university (for computational mathematics) as a student athlete in Northern California. After completing her impressive degree, Robi moved on over to Vegas where she has been dancing for the last 3 years. When she’s not shaking it for adoring patrons or applying to complete her masters in Applied mathematics, she’s making hilarious and educational TikToks (@robi_rye) for her over 69k fans! This episode we talk: Why she decided to move from The Bay Area to Vegas and the main differences between the clubs. What the Vegas str!p club scene is like and the dynamic amongst dancers. What happens in a Vegas champagne room and the average nightly income of the dancers. How Robi balances her real self (as a queer and masc. identifying individual) with her work persona. Danica is a sarcastic, straightforward, sex-postive feminist with a passion for topics that some may consider “taboo.” With a psychology degree under her belt, a public speaker/ university guest lecturer, a devoted sex workers advocate and a successful career as an exotic dancer - she knows some stuff!

Danica lives her life by two philosophies: 1) it’s better to have a life of “oh well”s than “what if”s and 2) be unapologetically you! Her years of experience as a sex worker have given her a passion and drive to do what she can to eliminate the dangerous stigma that currently surrounds the sex industry. She is confident that sharing her stories as an active sex worker can do just that - show women (and men) that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!
