Ep. 81 - Interview: Eva Bloom, Queer Sex Educator

This week we are chatting with the fabulous Eva Bloom (@whatsmybodydoing), queer s3x educator and s3x research nerd! Eva aims to break down the rigid scripts around s3xuality and affirm marginalized individuals to build their most authentic s3x lives, feel at home in their identities, and have confidence in navigating their s3xual health.  Their approach centres on queer and trans young people, and aims to promote evidence-based education, s3x positivity, radical body positivity, and s3xual health as a human right. Eva has worked with institutions across Canada such as the University of British Columbia, Women’s College Hospital, McMaster University, and University of Toronto. She has also worked with leading brands within the s3xuality industry such as We-Vibe and Come As You Are. Not to mention, she’s written in publications such as Teen Vogue and Greatist, hosts a s3x-ed YouTube channel called “What’s My Body Doing”  (with over 2 million views), and is currently in the process of making a documentary which focuses on the intersection of technology and s3xuality in young Canadian women’s lives!  This episode we talk: why it’s important to use the proper pronouns. Some key points that are missing from current high school s3x education classes. How to talk to children about their bodies and s3xuality. Key differences between coming out pre c0vid and coming out during a pandemic. And Riley shares with us the time she got rejected by a Justin Bieber fanatic.  We also answer your listener questions: How to tell your partner that their anti-LGBTQ+ language is offensive? What to do if your partner is uncomfortable with your bis3xuality? How do you initiate conversations about s3x with your partner that aren’t s3xts? As always, thank you for listening. Have a wonderful week and happy wh0re-ing! 💋

About the Podcast

50 Plus a Tip
A podcast for strippers and open minded hoes
“How much is a dance?” Well... it’s “$50 PLUS A TIP!”

Two stripper best friends sharing the highs and (b)lows of their experience in the adult entertainment industry, with some help from special guests along the way.

While harmful, incorrect stigmas sadly surround the sex industry, Danica and Riley trust that using their podcast platform to share their own experiences and give a voice to others along the way, they can give “outsiders” a glimpse of the real world of adult entertainment and show everyone that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!

About your host

Profile picture for Danica

Danica

Danica is a sarcastic, straightforward, sex-postive feminist with a passion for topics that some may consider “taboo.” With a psychology degree under her belt, a public speaker/ university guest lecturer, a devoted sex workers advocate and a successful career as an exotic dancer - she knows some stuff!

Danica lives her life by two philosophies: 1) it’s better to have a life of “oh well”s than “what if”s and 2) be unapologetically you! Her years of experience as a sex worker have given her a passion and drive to do what she can to eliminate the dangerous stigma that currently surrounds the sex industry. She is confident that sharing her stories as an active sex worker can do just that - show women (and men) that they can own their sexuality proudly (and sometimes even profit off of it)!
